Inferno screens at the Cinematheque

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY: screenings at the Cinematheque of director Dario Argento’s baroque 1980 horror classic Inferno. In Italian and Latin with English subtitles.
MONDAY TO THURSDAY: Fright Nights features eight haunted houses, wandering scare artists, over 15 midway rides, and spooky foods, running until October 31 on select nights at the PNE Grounds (Hastings and Windermere).
The Devils are in town
WEDNESDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on the New Jersey Devils in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Cirque du Soleil‘s Echo, running to January 5 at Concord Pacific Place, combines poetry, stagecraft, acrobatics, and technology to explores the delicate balance between people, animals, and the world.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: performances at the Metro Theatre until November 2 of Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of novelist Susan Hill’s ghost story The Woman in Black, starring and directed by Bernard Cuffling.
The Parade of Lost Souls is at Trout Lake
FRIDAY: the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret Society presents the Parade of Lost Souls, a lively procession at Trout Lake featuring spontaneous performances by musicians, DJs, singers, and other artists dressed in Halloween costumes.
FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of Terrifier 3, writer-director Damien Leone’s ultra-gory horror flick about a hideous clown gruesomely murdering people on Christmas Eve.
FRIDAY: instrumental prog-metal band Animals as Leaders–composed of lead guitarist Tosin Abasi, rhythm guitarist Javier Reyes, and drummer Matt Garstka–plays the Commodore Ballroom, with guest Plino. Here’s my interview with Tosin Abasi from 2016.
FRIDAY: Dan Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival: Part 2 at the Rio Theatre is a showcase of short erotic films that explore the spectrum of human desires and pleasures.
