MONDAY: American thrash-metal band from the ’80s, Exodus, plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Havok, CANDY, and Dead Heat.

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: exhibition of paintings by New York City-based artist Firelei Báez, organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, runs until March 16 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

TUESDAY: 22-year-old alt-pop singer-songwriter from L.A., Billie Eilish, plays Rogers Arena on her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, with guests the Marías.

The Room screens at the Rio

TUESDAY: The Room co-star and author Greg Sestero hosts a screening of Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 “so bad it’s good” movie at the Rio Theatre, with a live script reading and Q&A.

TUESDAY: 30th anniversary screening at the VIFF Centre of director Frank Darabont’s prison drama The Shawshank Redemption, based on Stephen King’s 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.

TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol is an uplifting musical based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol set during the 1930s in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, running until December 24 at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Theatre.

Reflections on Crooked Walking runs at the Firehall

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Ann Mortifee’s Reflections on Crooked Walking, running until December 22 at the Firehall Arts Centre, is a family musical about four unlikely friends who go in search of a cure for a sleeping sickness that has overtaken their town.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY: Cirque du Soleil‘s Echo, running to January 5 at Concord Pacific Place, combines poetry, stagecraft, acrobatics, and technology to explores the delicate balance between people, animals, and the world.

FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.

Taylor Swift plays BC Place

FRIDAY: American pop superstar Taylor Swift performs the first of three shows at BC Place on her record-breaking Eras Tour, with guest Gracie AbramsSOLD OUT.
