MONDAY: Vancouver sextet Petunia & the Vipers combines elements of country, western swing, Mexicana, French cabaret, ragtime, rockabilly, jazz, punk, and folk at the Princeton Pub & Grill.

MONDAY: British synth-pop band from the ’80s, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), plays the Orpheum Theatre, with guests Walt Disco.

Albert Lee plays Mel Lehan Hall

MONDAY: renowned British country-rock and rockabilly guitarist Albert Lee leads his band at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James. Here’s my interview with Albert Lee from 1986.

MONDAY TO FRIDAYThe Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” exhibition, running until June 22 at 1 Alexander Street, features over 200 prints, photos, sculptures, installations, and murals by world-famous street artist Banksy.

TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Spokane Indians in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Back From the Dead runs at the Shop Theatre

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Renegade Arts Co. presents the world premiere of Back From the Dead, an apocalyptic rock musical with story by composer-producer Jim Buckshon and legendary Vancouver rock critic Tom Harrison, running until June 28 at the Shop Theatre.

THURSDAY: the East Van Variety Show at the Cultch is an evening of magic, comedy, music and storytelling to support WISH Vancouver, featuring performances by Rob Teszka, Erin Reddekopp, Crystal Asham, Autoheart, Adam Prokop, and Ultra Sly.

THURSDAY: alt-country/southern-rock band the Drive-By Truckers play the Commodore Ballroom with Deer Tick and guests Thelma and the Sleaze. Here’s my interviews with Patterson Hood from 2003 and Mike Cooley from 2016.

The Toxic Avenger screens at the Rio

THURSDAY: screenings at the Rio Theatre of the cult-trash films The Toxic Avenger and Tromeo and Juliet, featuring a live Q&A with director and Troma Entertainment cofounder Lloyd Kaufman.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Vancouver actor and indie-rocker Finn Wolfhard performs two nights at the Rickshaw Theatre as part of his Objection! Tour, with guests the Slaps.
