FRIDAY: Vancouver actor and indie-rocker Finn Wolfhard performs the second of two shows at the Rickshaw Theatre as part of his Objection! Tour, with guests the Slaps.

FRIDAY: Burlesque and Variety Show curated by April O’Peel at the Rio Theatre features performances by Dae LeeGrind & Simon Clarke, Demi Reign, Heavy Duty Dance Crew, Kiki Albright, the Neighbours, Ruby Revel, Soaring Stilt Dance, Viktoria Court, Vivian Brass, and the WTFs.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAYThe Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” exhibition, running until June 22 at 1 Alexander Street, features over 200 prints, photos, sculptures, installations, and murals by world-famous street artist Banksy.

Back From the Dead runs at the Shop Theatre

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: Renegade Arts Co. presents the world premiere of Back From the Dead, an apocalyptic rock musical with story by composer-producer Jim Buckshon and legendary Vancouver rock critic Tom Harrison, running until June 28 at the Shop Theatre.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Spokane Indians in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: Playland features midway games, mini-golf, a climbing wall, haunted mansion, food concessions, and over 35 rides and attractions, including the iconic wooden rollercoaster. Playland runs until August 15 on the PNE Grounds, then becomes part of admission to the PNE Fair.

The Cat Empire plays the Commodore

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: Australian Latin jazz-funk band the Cat Empire plays two nights at the Commodore Ballroom as part of its Bird in Paradise Album Tour.

SUNDAY: 40th anniversary screening at the Cinematheque of Ran, director Akira Kurosawa’s epic reworking of Shakespeare’s King Lear. In Japanese with English subtitles.

SUNDAY: the North Burnaby Vinyl Record Roundup at Lochdale Hall features 16 vendors and 26 tables of vinyl records and other music memorabilia.

Gladiator screens at the Rio

SUNDAY: 25th anniversary screening at the Rio Theatre of director Ridley Scott‘s Oscar-winning historical action epic Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe.
