You may recall Texas blues-rockers Omar and the Howlers from the album they released in 1987, Hard Times in the Land of Plenty, which sold half a million copies and scored a hit single with its rollicking title track.
I didn’t interview singer-guitarist Omar Dykes until 15 years later, when the band was touring behind its Blind Pig release, Big Delta.
That album featured Terry Bozzio on four tracks, so at one point in the conversation I asked Dykes how he came to hook up with the drum legend, famous for his work with Frank Zappa and Jeff Beck.
