FRIDAY: funk-infused, technically adept rock trio from Edinburgh, Scotland, High Fade, plays the Biltmore Cabaret, with local guests Brass Camel.
FRIDAY: New Zealand reggae-funk party rockers the Black Seeds play the Rickshaw Theatre, with local guests Los Furios.
FRIDAY: screening at the Park Theatre of a 4K restoration of director and costar Dennis Hopper’s 1969 counter-culture epic Easy Rider, about two drug-dealing hippie bikers who set off on a collision course with small-town prejudices during a trek from L.A. to New Orleans.

Boogie Nights screens at the Rio
FRIDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of a 4K restoration of Boogie Nights, writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 drama about the meteoric rise and drug-fueled descent of a celebrity adult entertainer in 1970s Hollywood.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Come From Away, Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s musical inspired by the true events of September 11, when 7,000 stranded airplane passengers were welcomed by the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, runs until July 26 at the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Stanley BFL Canada Stage.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, running to July 5 at various Vancouver venues, features performances by the Brad Turner Quartet, the Ex, the Tess Meckling Quartet, the Steve Lloyd Smith Trio, Krystle Dos Santos, Cannery Row, the Bill Coon Trio, and Honeybear, the Band.

The Sadies play FIFA Fan Fest
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the FIFA Fan Festival on the PNE Grounds at Hastings Park features live broadcasts of FIFA World Cup games and live music by Ozomatli, Metric, Yukon Blonde, Broken Social Scene, Bedouin Soundclash, Alan Doyle, the Sadies, and Shakey Graves.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature, running until November 8 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features more than 100 works by the iconic B.C. artist, exploring in-depth her obsession with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
FRIDAY & SUNDAY: showing nightly until June 30 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
