I don’t get out to that many concerts anymore. With the Big Six-O on the horizon, I’ve become a real picky bastard when it comes to live shows. But there are a few select bands I never want to miss when they play Vancouver: the Drive-By Truckers and Gov’t Mule are tied at the top of the list.

And the Tedeschi Trucks Band has a solid hold on second place.

So I’m definitely heading out to the Queen E. Theatre tomorrow night (June 28) to see the smokin’-hot 12-piece do its thing as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Fest. And when I go to bed tonight I’ll pray to the guitar gods that Doyle Bramhall II will be sitting in as well.

Back on June 9 I did a phone interview with Susan Tedeschi, who called me up from Florida, and I’m feelin’ so fine about tomorrow’s gig that I’ve decided to just offer the whole damn conversation to anyone who might want to hear me ‘n’ her jabbering on about stuff for 18 minutes or so.

Have a listen if you like:

(Whoa. I gotta quite sayin’ “nice” so many times during interviews!)
