FRIDAY: Vancouver sludge-metal band Black Wizard plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Ever AgeFranklin. and Black Lung.

FRIDAY: Canadian roots-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Emmett Jerome plays the Fox Cabaret, with guests the Shane Terry Band.

FRIDAY: the Bottle Rocket Festival at the Russian Hall features performances by cherry pick, Hillsboro, Often Wrong, Scarlet Fever, Jian and Kitten Co., Land Assembly, and Gnawing, with partial proceeds to the Vancouver Food Bank.

Dark Side at the Dome

FRIDAY & SATURDAY: showing nightly until June 30 at the DomePink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Come From Away, Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s musical inspired by the true events of September 11, when 7,000 stranded airplane passengers were welcomed by the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, runs until July 26 at the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Stanley BFL Canada Stage.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Eugene Emeralds in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Soccer and song at FIFA Fan Fest

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the FIFA Fan Festival on the PNE Grounds at Hastings Park features live broadcasts of FIFA World Cup games and live music by Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer, Ziggy Marley, the Washboard Union, Walk off the Earth, Felix Cartal, and Thievery Corporation.

SATURDAY: Van Sabbath Vol. II at the WISE Hall is a tribute to Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne featuring performances by Vancouver bands Brass Camel, Spendo, the Inbetween, Mason Burns, and the Vidos.

SATURDAY: Australian hard-rock trio Wolfmother plays the Commodore Ballroom on its 20th Anniversary Tour, with guests Love Gang.

Boogie Nights screens at the Rio

SUNDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of a 4K restoration of Boogie Nights, writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 drama about the meteoric rise and drug-fueled descent of a celebrity adult entertainer in 1970s Hollywood.
