FRIDAY: American indie-rock/alt-pop musician Mini Trees plays the WISE Hall, with guests Coral Grief and Kylie V.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: showing nightly until September 30 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature, running until November 8 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features more than 100 works by the iconic B.C. artist, exploring in-depth her obsession with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
The PNE runs until Monday
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the annual PNE Fair, running until September 7 at Hastings Park, features dozens of rides and games, food and market vendors, live music, cultural showcases, and daily shows like the Superdogs, West Coast Lumberjacks, the Nerveless Nocks daredevil circus, and Wizard of Oz on Ice.
SATURDAY: the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the St. Louis City SC in Major League Soccer action at BC Place.
SATURDAY: the Our Neck of the Woods Festival at Maple Ridge’s Memorial Peace Park features live music, food, drink, vendors, and kids’ entertainment, with performances by Dear Rouge, Bedouin Soundclash, Tim & the Glory Boys, Emmett Jerome, Antonio Larosa, and Janky Bungag.
Bobby Lee performs at the Orpheum
SATURDAY: American stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster Bobby Lee performs two shows at the Orpheum Theatre.
SATURDAY: The Death and Life of Granville Street is a two-hour walking tour from the Vancouver City Centre SkyTrain Station led by local author and historian Aaron Chapman and Forbidden Vancouver founder Will Woods that covers the past, present, and future of the city’s entertainment district.
SUNDAY: Canadian soft-rock superstar Sarah McLachlan performs hits from the past and tunes from latest album Better Broken at the Freedom Mobile Arch as part of the PNE’s Summer Night Concerts series.
Pulp Fiction screens at the Rio
SUNDAY: screening at the Park Theatre of Pulp Fiction, writer-director Quentin Tarantino’s star-studded 1994 film that tells four intertwining tales of crime and violence in L.A.
