That time Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti told me that The Tea Party was his favourite band in the world

By Steve Newton

Back in 1998 I interviewed Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti while his band was touring behind its debut CD, My Own Prison, which went on to sell over six million copies in the U.S. alone.

The following year Creed would hit its peak of popularity with the Human Clay album, which has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

I talked to Tremonti on Canada Day near Toronto, where his band was performing as part of the Edgefest Festival, along with the likes of Foo Fighters, Green Day, The Tea Party, Sloan, the Watchmen, and the Matthew Good Band.

At one point in the conversation I asked the 24-year-old rocker which of those bands he was most happy to be sharing the stage with, and he answered with no hesitation at all.
